Sachin is no God

The media is creating way too much furore over Tendulkars retirement. Yes, he is ONE of the best batsmen the game has seen, but if he were not an Indian player, it's unlikely he would have been such a giant figure.
It's simple maths, with India's population and the games popularity, the best Indian player is alleviated to a God status by the Indian media and people.
A look at his statistics show he is no more benefit to a team than Kallis, Lara, Waugh, Sangakarra, Chanderpaul or atleast a dozen other contemporaries. If any of these players were born Indian, the sheer masses of the Indian media and population would have raised them to a God like status as well.
Sachin should have retired atleast 3 years ago. If he were playing for South Africa, Australia or England, he would have been privately advised by the cricket boards to retire or face the axe. In India, however he can stay as long as he wants and block new talent from coming up.
This obsessive, irrational national fixation with a cricket player is unhealthy and shows the low self esteem of a cricket mad nation.
